Being nice is boring!

Being nice is just plain out boring!

Nice, defined in the dictionary as ‘giving pleasure or satisfaction; pleasant or attractive’ has become something of an expectation in today’s society.  We refer to people as , ‘such a nice person’ as if it is great thing to be.

If you have to be nice all of the time then by definition you need to be pleasant or attractive, give pleasure or satisfaction….  how can any individual with a worthwhile opinion about anything be nice all of the time, or even a majority of the time.  Being nice is all about other people and this makes you boring!

This does not mean be nasty, or unpleasant, or belligerent but it does mean that to have an opinion, to be transparent and to add value to our community sometimse you have to be ‘not nice’.

In this talk Tim explores the difference between meeting the impossible standards set by Social Media and our perfect society, and the realities of being a decent human being.  The need to be an ‘authentic’ individual at the same time as playing well in the sandpit with others.

Who is Tim?

Tim is well known for delivering thoughtful and provocative sessions to audiences across Australia and New Zealand.  He is a leading expert on ‘Pragmatic Leadership’ in complex organisations.  At the end of the day we all need to deliver outcomes and Tim has a clear focus on Outcome Focussed Leadership.

He has a clear focus on helping his audience:

  • Understand what really counts in their roles as formal and informal leaders
  • Discard the fads and fashions of modern ‘Leadership Training’ and get back to basics
  • Challenge their status quo
  • Believe in their ability to achieve whatever they put their minds to, either individually or as a group
  • See the power of mindset and a ‘just do it’ attitude.

Tim has truly ‘been there and done that’.  He draws on his experiences as a Senior Police Officer, a leader in Hospitality, his time in Banking and Finance and running his own business to provide meaningful, real life examples and stories to illustrate his points.

An energetic and engaging speaker who blends humour with hard hitting insights!
